Studio Team
Karen Carll is an award-winning photographer living locally in the Santa Clarita Valley. Her photograph, “Trikes” won first place in the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association annual print competition in May of 2008. Earlier this year her image “Good Morning Sunshine” was on exhibit in Santa Clarita City Hall where she currently has several additional images celebrating life in the valley. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association. Although she has been taking photos off and on since she was in grade school, Karen’s interest in photography was reignited when she picked up her first digital camera in 2006. Since that day she has been traveling around the country capturing the everyday wonders of the world around us, meeting great people and dreaming of a way to share her passion for photography with everyone! The SCV Center for Photography is the realization of that dream ~ enjoy!
Mel Carll
Mel Carll is a Santa Clarita Valley based photographer, currently doing product photography for Inside SCV. Mel currently has several images on display at Santa Clarita City Hall, and had another image “Sunset on the Old Oak Tree” on display prior to the current display. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Santa Clarita Photographers Association, and is involved with the City of Santa Clarita’s 661 Arts Association, whose goal is bring art to the community. Mel is an award winning photographer with the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association annual print competition in May 2008. He is excited to bring the SCV Center for Photography to the community thus allowing photographers of all levels to advance their goals and knowledge of photography.
Meet Our Instructors
Ted Dayton is a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. He has been working as a professional photographer since 1976. His expertise encompasses catalog, fashion, architectural, corporate, and celebrity photography. His celebrity client list includes Elizabeth Taylor, Nancy Pelosi, Sandra Bullock, the President of Nicaragua, Helen Hunt, Jim Carey, Jeff Bridges, Sophia Coppola, Bob Dole, Gore Vidal, and Ann Getty among others. Ted also includes professional wrestlers and red carpet shooting at the Oscars among his other experiences. He is in his third term as President of the Santa Clarita Valley Photographers Association where he encourages other photographers to make the most out of their own photography. Ted has taught several classes and workshops of a variety of photographic techniques to standing room only audiences.

David Green
David Paul Green is a Los Angeles-based writer, photographer and information architect. He was bitten by the photography bug in 1972, and has been shooting professionally since 1985. His fashion work has appeared in Imperfekshun and Relate magazines; his rock and roll photography has appeared in BAM Magazine; his commercial clients have included Pepperdine University, DIRECTV, Visual Terrain, L.A. Tarfest, the Kung Fu Femmes, and others. He has worked with fashion and glamour models including Playboy Playmate Jennifer Lavoie (Miss August 1995), former Miss Denmark Tina Dam, Mala Owens, spoken word artist Ambokilé, and others. David is president of Monteverdi Creative, Inc., a technical/creative services company providing writing, user interface design, technical documentation and photography services to media and themed entertainment companies. Academically, David holds a Master’s Degree in English and has guest-lectured at Woodbury University, teaching business communications.

David Saffir
David Saffir is an internationally recognized, award winning portrait, commercial, and fine art photographer and printmaker. He has taught workshops in the US and Europe, including photography, Photoshop, printmaking, and fine art reproduction. He is the author of Mastering Digital Color, and The Joy of Discovery. He lives near Los Angeles, in Santa Clarita, California.

Tony Zinnanti
Tony Zinnanti brings ten years of litigation and transactional experience to the SCV Center for Photography. Admitted to the California State Bar in November of 1998, He has since been in solo practice in the areas of criminal and civil law and intellectual property concerns. Tony is also admitted to practice before the federal courts within California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Tony has handled hundreds of cases, including matters of regional and national significance such as involvement in People v. O.J. Simpson, the Anna Nicole Smith paternity litgation, the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, representation of local and state political figures and environmental and social activists.
Tony is also a photographer, working in the areas of documentary and fine art photography. His photographs have appeared in books, as well as print and internet publications. He is an avid film shooter; his latest artistic exploits entailing 8×10 film and his own dry plate emulsions.
As a result of Tony’s expertise in these two diverse areas, his workshops offer unique insight into the theory and working realities of the law and how it impacts photography.
Ron Brewer
Ron Brewer started his interest in photography as a child, but it went on hold after finding the end of his first roll of film. His interest in photography came to life again in 2006 and quickly developed into a passion. His goal is to produce artistic photographs in his preferred fields of close-up/macro, wildlife, portraiture and beauty photography.
Ron is an award winning photographer with the Santa Clarita Valley Photographer’s Association. His passion has resulted in eight awards – 2 First place, 2 Second place and 4 Merit awards with just seven submissions in the last two print competitions (November 2008 and Spring 2009).

Dan Holmes
Dan Holmes is a Professional Photographer based in Ventura California. He specializes in fine art Landscape, Wedding/Portraiture, Assignment, Live Music, and Workshops. He has traveled extensively: climbing, trekking, and photographing in Europe, South America, Africa, Asia, and the Western USA. He has a unique ability to capture light, color, emotion, and tension in his images. His wedding photography is a blend of story telling and tradition, capturing emotional moments throughout the day.

Mike Kubeisy
Michael Kubeisy is one of Hollywood’s most in demand Still Photographers for the Television Industry. He is currently shooting on a number of top 10 shows. He has been featured on CBS / KCAL News, and the Los Angeles Times. Over the last 25 years he’s been working along side televisions hottest celebrities, photographing the images that stun the viewers eyes.
Mike is also the owner of Digital-Ops, the most utilized digital graphics company for custom x-rays used by the Television and Film Industries.

Karen Sperling
Karen Sperling is a Los Angeles-based photographer, author and artist. A Corel Painter Master, Karen has taught Painter since the software’s debut in 1991 to everyone from professional photographers and free-lance artists to the staffs at publishing companies, design firms, and film studios, including Disney Feature Animation and American Greeting Cards. She has led Painter seminars and demos at the annual WPPI convention and for the Professional Photographers of America, in venues including the national convention, affiliate schools and local affiliates. She has also demonstrated Painter at American Film Institute, Macworld, Seybold and Siggraph. Karen wrote the first Painter manual when the program debuted in 1991 and went on to write the manuals for the next several versions. She has written four published Painter books, including the latest one, Painting for Photographers, which covers art lessons, software steps and post-printing acrylic techniques for turning photos into paintings. Karen’s Painter articles and tutorials have appeared in Professional Photographer, Rangefinder, and the PPA web site and in Painter Canvas, the newsletter that Corel sends to its Painter users. She has published Painter magazine, Artistry, and currently publishes Artistry Tips and Tricks magazine. Her commissioned portraits and art are held in private collections around the world, and her paintings have been exhibited in New York and during Art Basel Miami.
