Monday, August 8th – 6:30pm to 9:00pm
Basic Lightroom 3 - Mel Carll instructor $79
Adobe Lightroom is a program that is a dream for digital photographers. This workshop will cover the 5 modules of Lightroom, with the main focus on the Library and Develop modules. Mel will cover importing and managing your files, photo editing and color correcting, using and creating presets, synchronizing between images, exporting and finishing in Photoshop, creating a slideshow, printing and if time permits, creating a webpage. You may bring a laptop but it is not required.

Wednesday, August 10th – 6:30pm to 9pm
Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll instructor $159 for all 3 sessions (Part 1 of a 3 part workshop)
This 3 session workshop will focus only on the camera. We will start session 1 at the beginning with camera modes, aperture, shutter, and ISO, what these mean, and where they are on your camera. We will also discuss how they work together to create the photos you are looking for and then talk about what to work on during the days between sessions. This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class. This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras. (Part 2 will be held on 8/17 and Part 3 on 8/24/2011).

Adobe Camera Raw Revolution! – David Green instructor $79
In this workshop we are going to learn the secret weapon in your software arsenal, that you may not even know about: Adobe Camera RAW. Discover how this tool can allow you to bring your images to a finished quality level, without even venturing into Photoshop itself. Adjust your exposure, crop, set your white balance, convert to black and white, add cool effects, even clean up blemishes and sensor dust, all from a single working panel. Best of all, you can sync any or all of your changes across multiple images, saving you hours of repetitive work! Prerequisites: Working knowledge of Photoshop or Elements. Bring a laptop, and a way to take notes. This is a hands-on workshop, where we will be editing one or two images and taking them from straight-out-of-camera to finished presentation.

We will start session 2 where we left off in session 1 with a review, then on to depth of field, lens selection, exposure compensation, white balance and composition. Build Your Killer Portfolio – David Saffir, Donna Pattee-Ballard and Mel Carll instructors $29
There is nothing more important than good representation of your photographic art. Most photographers have built up a collection of images – ranging from boxes of prints, to film, to digital archives. But how do you go about turning those archives into a stunning portfolio? This workshop will assist you in not only the presentation of your photographs, but more importantly the organization of the images. We will discuss how to assemble the portfolio, including themes and contents of the portfolio, and how to edit the work that goes into your portfolio. Then we will discuss the process of bringing your art to the attention of galleries and collectors who can make a difference in your artistic career. We will also discuss the importance of showing your work, and how to find the perfect place to show. To wrap things up, we will discuss how to work with galleries and collectors and what they are looking for in an artist.

We will start session 3 with a review of the assignment, sort out the mysteries and then dive back into the camera. Other topics will include color space, exposure controls, bracketing, flash and whatever else time permits. So bring in that camera and let’s get down to what makes it work. This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class. This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras. (Part 1 will be held on 8/10 and part 2 on 8/17/2011).
