March 2012 WORKSHOP SCHEDULE


Wednesday,  March 14th -  6:30pm to 9pm

Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll, instructor  $159 for all 3 sessions (Part 1 of a 3 part workshop)

This 3 session workshop will focus only on the camera.  We will start session 1 at the beginning with camera modes, aperture, shutter, and ISO, what these mean, and where they are on your camera.  We will also discuss how they work together to create the photos you are looking for and then talk about what to work on during the days between sessions.  This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class.  This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras.  (Part 2 will be held on 3/21 and Part 3 on 3/28/2012).

Wednesday, March 21st -  6:30pm to 9pm

Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll, instructor   (Part 2 of a 3 part workshop)

This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class. This 3 session workshop will focus only on the camera.  We will start session 2 where we left off in session 1 with a review, then on to depth of field, lens selection, exposure compensation, white balance and composition.  This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class.  This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras.   (Part 1 will be held on  3/14 and Part 3 on 3/28/2012).

Tuesday, March 27th –  6:30pm to 9:30pm

MicroProcessing – aka Advanced Photoshop Basics – Ted Dayton, instructor  $79

Admit it!  You are a digital maniac and you like to spend hours working on your images and you are hungry for new ways to get your images rockin’.  This workshop is for photographers of all levels with the emphasis on impact, maximum technical quality and personal style using basic Photoshop tools combined with a simple and effective approach that you will easily understand.  This will be an evening sure to improve your image processing vision, your shooting skills and your overall enjoyment of photography, no matter what you shoot.  Bring your computer and work along with Ted as he explains how to make your work beautiful and unique.

Wednesday, March 28th –  6:30pm to 9pm

Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll, instructor (Part 3 of a 3 part workshop)

We will start session 3 with a review of the assignment, sort out the mysteries and then dive back into the camera.  Other topics will include color space, exposure controls, bracketing, flash and whatever else time permits.  So bring in that camera and let’s get down to what makes it work.  This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class.  This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras.  (Part 1 will be held on 3/14 and part 2 on 3/21/2012).

Thursday, March 29th - 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Basic Lightroom 4 and Image Editing – Mel Carll, instructor  $79

Adobe Lightroom 4 was just released this month, and is a program that is a dream for digital photographers.  This workshop will cover 4 of the 7 modules of Lightroom, with the main focus on the Library and Develop modules.  Mel will cover importing and managing your files, photo editing and color correcting, using and creating presets, synchronizing between images, exporting and finishing in Photoshop, creating a slideshow and printing.  We will also spend some time looking at the new features of Lightroom 4. Then we will get into actually editing images during the last hour of the workshop.  Please bring 1 image, and Mel will import that image into Lightroom.  Then Mel will go though the editing process to get a final image ready for printing.  You may bring a computer, but it is not required.
