Mastering Event Photography – David Saffir instructor $119
Event photography can be a great moneymaker for you in your photography. Here are a few examples: retirement parties, baby showers, wedding anniversaries, and corporate celebrations just to name a few. How do you succeed at photographing dozens of people having a good time? This workshop will show you how. We will discuss the pre-event, the big day and post event. We will also talk about gear, processing and marketing.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to:
- Create your marketing message, sales strategy, product offering, and pricing
- Recruit customers and book events
- Scout the location, who to talk to on-site, and what to say
- Handle the pre-event meeting with your customer
- Developing a script for yourself
- Sign up event-goers for extra prints
- Filling orders, collecting payments and delivering prints, images and/or slideshows

Fine Tuning Your Studio Portraits – Ted Dayton instructor $109 (This is a 2 night session, also meeting on Wednesday, May 5th)
We all know a good studio portrait when we see one, but sometimes it’s the little things that make it memorable. Spend part one with Ted and learn the subtle adjustments that take it from good to great. Ted helps you understand how to shade the highlight side of a face for dramatic effect; how to fill the shadows properly; how to use accent lighting; how to pose your subjects so that they tell you, “This is the best picture anyone has ever taken of me!” And best of all, learn how to shoot within a “safe zone” that will keep you in control and lead to great photographs than you thought possible. Please bring your camera as this will be a hands-on evening. In part two, Ted will show how to edit and identify the best images, and how to process them in Photoshop using the simplest of methods for a beautiful, professional-looking result that your subjects will be thrilled with. Please bring your laptop for night 2, as it will be a hands-on evening as well.

Landscape Photography – Vision and Tools, Sharing the Power of Nature – Dan Holmes instructor $ 69
Vision is more than just what you see, it is also what you feel. Tools are the gear (hardware) and the compositional elements (software) used to capture that vision. Powerful photography combines all these elements!
In this 3 hour session, we will explore the elements of Vision and the use of Tools in creating powerful Landscape photographs. Award winning photographer, Dan Holmes will lead the class on a visual journey into the world of Landscape & Nature photography. We will discuss the elements of powerful vision, finding that power in nature, and using the camera to capture that vision. We will visit some of the most beautiful places on earth: some famous, some right out the back door. Bring 2-3 of your favorite images – files or prints – for inclusion in the discussion.

Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll instructor $129 for all 3 sessions (Part 1 of a 3 part workshop)
This 3 session workshop will focus only on the camera. We will start session 1 at the beginning with camera modes, aperture, shutter, and ISO. What these mean, and where they are on your camera. We will also discuss how they work together to create the photos you are looking for and then talk about what to work on during the days between sessions. This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class. This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras. (Part 2 will be held on 5/17 and Part 3 on 5/24/2010)

Whether you have Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, this three-part series will get you started with editing your images. With a strong emphasis on hands-on training, we’ll take the slow and easy path to image editing proficiency. It is strongly recommended that students bring a laptop with Photoshop CS4 or Photoshop Elements 8.0 installed. A 30-day free trial is available at www.adobe.com . NOTE: This class will not review any aspects of Adobe Lightroom.
Image Editing 101 will cover the following topics:
- Importing images from your camera
- Opening files in Photoshop, Elements and Bridge
- Tools, Menus and Palettes
- Adobe Camera Raw
Thursday, May 13th – 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Unleashing the Power of Off-Camera Flash sponsored by Honl Photo – Ron Brewer instructor $69
See a dramatic difference in your photography by learning how to take your flash off the camera. Learn how to move from ugly flash to good light, even with just the one flash that you probably already own. The whole “how to” process will be demonstrated live in class, including how to use the Honl light modifiers, and how they work together with your off-camera flash to produce images that match those created with studio strobes. You will have the opportunity to try the entire Hohl product line for yourself with the instructor, and learn how to use the modifiers with your flash units. Understand the difference between on-camera and off-camera flash and the magic that happens when you go off-camera. If you have the skills to drive a car, you already have the aptitude to learn the process that will take your photography to the next level quicker than most skills you can learn. Since this is a hands-on class, please bring a camera, flash and a wireless trigger or sync cord. We will provide the Honl photo products for use during the class, and have some flashes, triggers and sync cords to loan as well.

Do you know what your rights are as a photographer? Do you know when a model or property release is required? Come join photographer and attorney Gordon Firemark as he helps you understand model releases, licensing your work for publication, working with stock-photo agencies and the basics of copyrights, trademarks and how to deal with infringements of your work, or worse, infringing on another photographers’ work. And don’t forget to bring your questions, as Gordon will answer all that mystifies you regarding photography and the law.
