Basic DSLR Camera – Mel Carll instructor $129 for all 3 sessions (Part 1 of a 3 part workshop)
This 3 session workshop will focus only on the camera. We will start session 1 at the beginning with camera modes, aperture, shutter, and ISO, what these mean, and where they are on your camera. We will also discuss how they work together to create the photos you are looking for and then talk about what to work on during the days between sessions. This is a hands-on class, please bring your DSLR camera to class. This class is not geared toward point and shoot cameras. (Part 2 will be held on 7/19 and Part 3 on 7/26/2010)

Studio Lighting 101 – David Saffir instructor $109 if registered before 7/7/10, $119 after 7/7/10 (Part 1 of a 2 part workshop)
Learn how to successfully pre-plan your photo shoot, put your lighting setup together to match a particular “look”, capture your image successfully, plan your editing in Photoshop, and create an image you can successfully print or provide as a digital file.
We’ll take you step by step through the process:
- Pre-session planning meetings with customers, clients/models, and others
- Identifying a look or theme, including use of printed examples, design ideas, and
the like - Pre-shoot coaching, with focus on making diplomatic suggestions for wardrobe and makeup
- Studio preparation, including backdrops, choosing a lighting style, and two or three light setups for portraits
- Classic vs. non-traditional lighting, using main and accessory lights
- Setting up your camera for successful capture

1 Sweet Night of Photoshop – David Green instructor $69
In this workshop for beginners and people new to Photoshop, we’ll cover the basics of Photoshop, reviewing the essential features and learning how Photoshop organizes them to make your workflow smooth and strong. We’ll start with Bridge, and the way it organizes your images and gives you access to some of Photoshop’s best features without having to even open Photoshop. Then, we’ll spend about 30 minutes exploring the awesome power of Adobe Camera RAW. Finally, we’ll review the new Adobe Photoshop CS5, including awesome features like “Content-Aware Fill” and “HDR Pro.” This class is also a good review of the features for intermediate users who never really learned the workflow.

We will start session 3 with a review of the assignment, sort out the mysteries and then dive back into the camera. Other topics will include color space, exposure controls, bracketing and whatever else time permits. So bring in that camera and let’s get down to what makes it work. Tuesday, July 27th – 6:30pm to 9:30pm NEW WORKSHOP
Panorama Photography – Ted Dayton instructor $69
Learn the essentials of multi-frame panorama photography for maximum sharpness and detail in your landscape photographs in this hands-on workshop with Ted Dayton. We will start by photographing a scene using the proper techniques and then go into the studio to process and assemble those images in Photoshop. You will learn the skills needed for amazing images that can be printed at least twice as large as you thought possible from your camera and also learn a few of Ted’s techniques for high-quality, stylized results for photos of all kinds – not just panoramas. Please bring your digital camera, tripod and laptop with Photoshop already installed as this will be a hands-on workshop.

Taking good portraits outdoors can be very difficult, unless you know the simple steps to get your flash off-camera and move from bad to good light. Many people don’t like to use flash because it looks so bad, but you will learn how to set up and control your flash so that it looks like you didn’t use a flash at all. You will be amazed at how beautiful your portraits will look. You will learn how to use your flash outdoors in the mid-day sun as well as at sunset and still get professional looking portraits. This is a hands-on workshop starting in the studio and quickly moving outdoors where the instructor will demonstrate the surprisingly easy techniques and help you try it for yourself. Bring your DSLR camera, speedlight flash and cable/trigger (if you don’t have a flash or cable/trigger, we have loaners available).
