Picture Paramedic - David Saffir instructor $69
Are some your pictures flat lining? Do you have some images that you know would look great with a little TLC, but you’re unsure what to do? Are your images bland, flat, tired, or just yearning to breathe free? Well come visit the picture paramedic, David Saffir. In this workshop we’ll go through a series of student’s selected images where we will fix, patch, retouch and resuscitate. Each student will submit 2-3 images in advance of class and David will pick an image or 2 from each student and restore to vibrant health! We will limit the number of images so that each image gets the attention it deserves, and then at the end, you will receive the revived Photoshop image with all the layers for their use. You will also benefit by seeing how each image is brought back to life, which will broaden your Photoshop skills. So rescue those photos now with the picture paramedic.

Wednesday, August 18th – 6:30pm to 9:30pm NEW WORKSHOP
Black & White Photography and Silver Efex Pro from Nik Software - David Saffir instructor $69
Black and White Photography is experiencing a resurgence in interest among photographers and clients. In the past, converting digital color images to black and white has been at best time consuming – and at worst a chore to be avoided. No more. Improvements in software and printing technology make it possible to efficiently create stunning black and white images from digital color originals. It is now possible to adjust images to match different black and white film types, add special effects and toning, or create images that take you back to days gone by. We will also review printing methods that give the best results on desktop inkjet printers, and some of their larger cousins. We’ll take a look at different paper/media types, and your choices in creating the look you want. You don’t have to be an expert in Photoshop or other image editors to benefit from this class. You don’t even need a laptop! Join us for a fun and informative evening that’s sure to take your photography skills to the next level!

Photoshop for Photographers 1 - David Green instructor $129 (This is a 2 night workshop meeting on 8/19 and 8/26)
In the past, most of the Photoshop workshops David has taught have been overviews of ALL of Photoshop’s features for photographers. In this class, we switch gears and go (slowly) over the best way to edit your images from start to finish (aka import to output): This is called a “workflow,” and if you don’t have one, you should! We will look at good images and how to make them better, and bad images, and how to save them (if we can!). We will also look at artistic treatments and composite images, and how to create images from your imagination. Feel free to bring your own images for part 2, and we will work on them as time allows. Please bring a laptop with Photoshop CS3, 4 or 5 loaded. Prerequisite: Basic Photoshop knowledge. You should at least know how to open an image, and what the basic tools and menus are. Night 2 meets on Thursday, August 26th.

Monday, August 30th - 6:30pm to 9:30pm NEW WORKSHOP
Do you Holga? - David Green instructor $109 Includes a Holga 120 camera, 5 rolls of film and a processing mailer.
The Holga is a plastic film camera (non-digital!) that has been growing in popularity. It is considered a “toy,” yet is used by professional photographers to make beautiful and unique images. It practically has a cult following among photographers eager to experience the joys and heartache of its distortion, light leaks, vignetting, blur and more. It is the ugly bulldog of cameras: So ugly, it becomes beautiful in a strange way. In this workshop, everyone gets a Holga!, Oprah-style. We then spend some time learning how to modify our cameras to make them a bit more reliable. (Happy accidents are a good thing. Unusable film is not.) Then we’ll shoot. Note: In order to have enough cameras on hand, deadline for signing up for this workshop is 5pm, Thursday, August 26! Optional: A week or so following the class, we will meet at Peet’s coffee to review your images.
