We will explore a landscape-specific workflow, including all-important tips such as setting the black point and white point, white balance, and adjusting curves. Photoshop for Portrait Photographers – David Green instructor $79
Digital cameras have an even higher resolution than HD video cameras. That means even the most flattering image may reveal enough natural flaws to make your subject feel as though they are a hideous freak! In this workshop, we will learn techniques for retouching skin, naturalizing skin color, cleaning up blemishes, softening wrinkles, and making your portraits resemble the way we see people in our minds, rather than the microscopic clarity that digital video often gives us. Please bring your computer with Photoshop installed.

HDR that doesn’t look like HDR – Ted Dayton instructor $79
If you love HDR Photography but you are getting tired of that amazing but unrealistic look, join Ted for this HDR class with a twist. This is a method he has perfected for use in architectural photography in particular, but it can be applied to almost any other subject. Ted will also share several simple but powerful tips on image processing to help make these new HDR images especially beautiful. Please bring your camera, tripod (don’t forget!) and cable release. Also bring your laptop loaded with Photomatix. You can get a free 30 day trial at www.hdrsoft.com . If you purchase Photomatix, use the code SCVPHOTO15 for a 15% discount.

Do it ALL in Camera Raw – David Green instructor $79
For most photographers, Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) is a “rest stop” on the way to Photoshop. It is a place to do minor color correction, click “Auto,” click “OK” and then on to the big guns. What many photographers don’t know is that you can do almost ALL of your editing in Camera RAW without ever having to go into Photoshop! With Adobe Camera RAW, you have the advantage of a non-destructive workflow (which means you can’t screw anything up, no matter how hard you try), and no increase in file size. In this workshop, we will work on several images, including your own if you bring them. (Bring up to three images on a thumb drive or CD.) We will review each of the panels of the Adobe Camera RAW application, and the often-unnoticed tool bar where a lot of power is hidden. We will talk about import and export options, and how to work with sub-par images from any camera.
At the end of this workshop, you will know:
- How to take almost all of your images from start to finish in Camera RAW.
- How to quickly work on big shoots with hundreds of images, without ever opening Photoshop.
- How Adobe Bridge and ACR work together to give you control over your workflow.
- Specialized Adobe Camera RAW techniques for landscape, portrait and studio photography.
- How to use the power of Camera RAW with non-RAW (i.e. JPEG & TIFF) images.
Bring your laptop loaded with Adobe Camera RAW from CS4 or CS5. (Either Elements or Photoshop versions of ACR will work, but Elements is limited.) You can download a trial version at www.adobe.com if you do not have Adobe Camera Raw installed on your computer.
